When we make facial expressions, muscles beneath the skin contract and cause it to fold.  Over time, these folds form permanent creases known     as “dynamic wrinkles”.  Dynamic wrinkles deepen with age and often created a terse, stressed appearance.

The only way to prevent dynamic wrinkles from forming is to stop the underlying muscles from creasing the skin.  Botox Cosmetic® is the     most commonly performed cosmetic enhancement procedure in the U.S.  Botox Cosmetic® works by relaxing selected muscles that create the     wrinkle, thereby smoothing the skin. After treatment, the overlying skin lays flat and unwrinkled, while the untreated surrounding muscles     contract and allow normal facial expression to be unaffected.

At Radiance, you will always receive Botox Cosmetic® Brand from Allergan (ask to see the vial’s label).You will always     be given the proper dose of Botox® to adequately treat your dynamic wrinkles, and the Botox® will always be reconstituted to the exact     specifications recommended by the manufacturer so that you can be sure of optimal long-lasting results.

The areas most commonly treated with Botox Cosmetic® include the vertical lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, crow’s     feet, and lower face wrinkles.  Repeated Botox® treatments progressively weaken the targeted muscles and can lead to more prolonged     duration and less frequent treatments.  A tiny needle delivers a small amount of medication to the targeted muscle with very little discomfort.      Topical anesthetic cream is usually not required prior to injections.

The results of a Botox® treatment begin to appear in three to ten days.  The treated muscles will gradually regain their action over     three to five months.  Botox® is proven to be safe and effective in over 200 studies and used in over 1 million people with no systemic     complications reported.  Potential complications include bruising at the injection sites, mild swelling lasting 48 hours, temporary eyelid     drooping and temporary double vision.  Bruising can be minimized by stopping the following substances 10 days prior to treatment: aspirin,      ibuprofen, vitamin E, red wine, and green tea.  Botox® is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women, people with muscle disorders     such as Multiple Sclerosis, persons on aminoglycoside antibiotics, or anyone allergic to Botox® or human albumin.
